Craft Apple Patterns

I really enjoy spending time with Linda  – but more importanly – I love her patterns.  They are so well written.  Every detail is covered.  You don’t have to guess or wonder what you’re supposed to do next.

Quilt Market – Patterns (Part 4)

I’m very close to wrapping up the Quilt Market recap. (Until next year!) I wanted to show you some wonderful new patterns that will be in the shop. And the last quilt market post, but certainly not least, will be What’s Coming AND  super fab giveaways. You’ll want to check back for that. I promise!

First up – Pink Fig! We’re a fan of Pink Fig patterns. Chelsea’s patterns are designed to make you fall in love with sewing!

And how can you not fall in love with the Julie Top. Or the Nie Nie skirt?

Pink Fig

And of course, there are the ever so fabulous ModKid patterns. Patty has a sense of not only what looks fashionable (does saying that make me sound old?) but also what kids will actually wear!

The wonderful Kyoko

And I’m happy to have added patterns from Sweetwater to my site.   (Just tonight!)

I currently only have one of each….but I’ve ordered more. I’m not sure exactly when they’ll arrive – it might not be until the fabric is released. *sigh* I’m loving them all.  And I’m loving the prices too!!!!

There is another new pattern company that I fell in love with. Izzy & Ivy Designs. This was their first time at market – and let me tell you, these ladies have been busy!

When their patterns arrive, I’ll be sure to let you know!!!

This weekend I’ll be sewing some patterns for my boys from Hot Scott. Another new company – but all BOY patterns! I should have them in store before too long.

BOYS BOYS BOYS!

Whew – I think that is all I’ll go over for now. There are other patterns on the way (from the likes of Sandi Henderson, Paula Prass, Art Gallery, etc.) – but I feel like I’ve taken too much time as it is.     🙂

Most of the patterns are available right now.  So run (I mean click) over to the shop and check them all out….and buy a few.     😉

Quilt Market – Free Spirit (Part 2)

The Free Spirit area was one I found myself in over and over. I just couldn’t get enough of the booths. Heather Bailey won the award for Best Double booth. It was totally totally awesome.

Ahhhh - Heather Bailey

Her new line (I believe due out around January) is called Nicey Jane. She explained that when she was creating it she imagined a sweet girl going on a date to a dance. The story reminded me slightly of her own romantic story with her husband. She also has a number of new patterns coming out as well. Of course, the turtle she had revieled on her blog before quilt market. The other patterns are fantastic too!

new patterns on the way

Another Free Spirit desinger that had her own booth was Anna Maria Horner. I don’t know if I’ll ever want to sew with anything else ever again after fondling the voile. Little Folks is the name of the collection and there is also a Folksy Flannel collection being released as well. I have not carried flannel in my store – but after seeing her flannel paired with voile baby blankets, I’m considering it! (Let me know if you’re looking for and buying cool flannel often!!!)

Wonderful booth as always

Anna had samples of projects from her book that is yet to be released. After seeing some of the projects know that it is going to be exceptional.

One of the book projects

I also ordered Tanya Whelan‘s newest line Dolce. It really is very sweet and I’m excited to add Tanya as a designer I carry!

Dolce

Jenean Morrison was there with her line California Dreamin’. She was so sweet. It was fun to see her excitement about a dress she had made for herself. And she clearly loves medallions because the new line has several variations of them!

Super fun photo frame

That’ll have to do for tonight. Be back again soon with more quilt market fun!

Quilt Market – Michael Miller (Part 1)

I don’t know how I should organize the posts.  So it might be mishmash craziness that will span over a couple days.

Here we go!

First – the Michael Miller booths!

Camp Michael Miller

Camp Michael Miller pretty much sets the tone.  The prints I love are fun and playful, just like their booth.

The Michael Miller girls – Patty Young, Sandi Henderson, Paula Prass and Pillow & Maxfield.  It’s hard for me to point out every little detail.  These women have made sure every little detail is perfect.  It is amazing!  Hopefully you’ll be able to see a little bit of that in the pictures. (Check out my quilt market flickr album to see even more pictures!)

Sandi Henderson's booth

The wonderful Kyoko

Paula and her daughter Jennifer

Whimsy in the new colorway

In addition to new fabric lines, they all have new patterns too!  I have Patty’s newest patterns in the store now.  Sandi is expecting hers to be ready in November and Paula says around the new year. Also Valerie Pillow and Anne Maxfield said their website, blog and such should be up before too long!

I have some goodies for you guys… you’ll definately want to check back. But right now I am falling alseep on my computer desk – so it’s time for me to get some much needed sleep!

See you again soon with more quilt market fun!

A Quickie from Quilt Market

Just wanted to pop on and say hello from Quilt Market in Houston.  I hate to assume, cuz you know what “they” say, so just incase you don’t know – Quilt Market is a trade show for the fabric industry.  We are NOT sewing quilts all weekend!  So please don’t ask to see my newest project.   😉

I’ve uploaded a few pictures to twitter and just added a few on flickr too.  Tomorrow I will work on more/better pictures with my real camera – not my phone!

YOU WILLL DIE when you feel this new fabric

Right now I can’t stop thinking about the new Anna Maria Horner voile fabric!  It is so supple and soft.  And it’s wider than quilting cotton too.  It is going to be absolutely perfect for clothing – but in schoolhouse, Anna showed it clearly can be use for many many applications (yes, even quilting!)

Later Alligator
       or
Over and Out
       or
Wham Bam, thank you ma’am.

Ah man – I’m sleep deprived.

Packing for Quilt Market

That’s what I should be doing.
It’s funny because I KNOW people that were planning outfits back in August.
AUGUST.
I have about 24 hours remaining before I leave.
And I say to myself.
“Maybe you should do laundry.”

Alright so clearly I won’t be the hippest cat in town.
But I’ll have mostly clean clothes.
And I’ll be there.
Bags under eyes and all.

I remember the first year I was planning to go.
I was emailing Sandi Henderson and I told her something like
‘I’m gonna need cases of deodorant.”
She LOL’d at that.
Maybe I can find the email.
I might even have a label “Cool emails from designers” in my gmail
Or if I don’t, maybe I should make one.

Anyway back to my first time – a Quilt Market virgin.
I sweat a lot.
And I was so nervous to meet all the designers.
Like these are all the COOLEST people in the world!
Will I even be able to say “Hi”?

I said ‘Hi’ to most of them.
Except Patty Young.
But I talked to Jon. (her husband)
He didn’t know who I was.
Heather Bailey gave me photography advice.
Anna Maria Horner gave me a hug.

It was nice.
Now I’m still super excited to go to Quilt Market.
After all – I get to spend a little bit of time with the world’s coolest people.
Some of them even know who I am.
And I’m not so afraid to go and say Hi any more.

After that first market I realized that I was right.
But my emphasis was wrong.
These are all the coolest PEOPLE in the world.

For updates from many people attending quilt market – check this out

And also I’ll be tweeting, as usual.
