Website Template Help

So- As you know, I have two websites.

My Handmade website. I have an order form. It’s great since I do not have a ton of items made and ready to ship.

My Fabric Website. I decided on the shopping cart. It allows inventory control which is so important for this website….BUT the templates that come as defaults are rather dorky looking.

So…if someone out there would like to help me customize my fabric shop…PLEASE email me! (Of course, I will pay you.) I have figured out how to stock my store and have been working on getting the items in the store…but I need help to make it look better.

*****Update – Thanks for the emails. I have selected someone. We are working together and the new site will be revealed before long. *****

And now…for a picture.

Haley at her school Rodeo Days Program. What a cutie!

Princesses and Monkeys

We have been quite busy. I am working on orders, and I know I said I would show pictures, but I have other pictures I want to show first.

Haley went to a birthday party this weekend. It was a fun place where the children get to dress up. They even get their nails painted and hair fixed! Then they have a nice tea party. Haley was in heaven!

I made this for the little girl. It’s my new thing, I guess. The little girl liked it – so that is good.

This FUN fabric is brushed cotton (think flannel). PERFECT for pajamas. I had to make a quick pair of pants for Kyle. For anyone who is going to be sewing clothing, I highly recommend investing in a serger. It cuts the time down and the finished product is super! I really want to make an appliqué shirt to go with this and make it a lounge set…but I have to finish orders first.

Kyle wearing his new pj pants. Taylor will get his soon!

And now…onto really important stuff. I got more fabric this week!

Most of the Ginger Blossom line from Sandi Henderson is here. It is selling QUICK. My website is updated to show what is in stock. I have the pattern for Haley’s dress picked out…but I have a feeling the fabric might all sell before I can get around to make it.

Rainy Day

It’s a cold rainy day here in Tucson. (It was actually snowing at our house earlier!) I like days like this every once in a while. You get to stay inside, have something warm to drink and relax! My relaxing is actually trying to get taxes done…so that’s kinda not fun, but it’s a nice day none-the-less. While I work on taxes, eat popcorn and drink a nice hot cup of tea – I thought I’d pop in and say hello! Plus, I found my camera so I have a few pictures for you.

Here are a few samples for my shows –

Amy Butler‘s Frenchy Handbag

Here is a peak inside of the bag.

A Stash and Dash Bag made with On a Whim fabric. I love the Amy Schimler fabric! Cute, don’t you think?

Up next- maybe some pictures of orders I’ve completed recently?!?!? I don’t’ want you to think I’m only sewing for myself!!!!

Where is my camera?

So much to show you and I cannot find my camera. I hope it wasn’t left at the hospital. Thankfully, my cell phone takes pictures, and actually they are about as good as my pictures with a real camera anyway! (The pictures of Taylor are all from the phone too.) So the phone took the picture, but this Photoshop genius used a cookie cutter for the shape and changed the mode to gray scale.

What you are looking at is a splat mat under Taylor’s chair at the table. It is made with Michael Miller‘s laminated cotton. (yeah…I have it for sale on my website) I used the Feeling Groovy in Spa and the reverse site is the Mint Dumb Dot. Directions for how to make your own are on the Michael Miller Blog . I am thinking that Jairus needs one of these. What do you think?

Whew! That took me forever. I think this will be all for today! More pictures to come of other things…and hopefully from my real camera!

Speaking of McDonald’s

I must admit that I really like McDonald’s breakfasts. I like the McGriddles, I like the sausage and biscuit sandwiches, the cinnamon melts are yum-yum-yum-um-umy and the hash browns, well, no one does them better! Still, I know that I cannot eat at McDonald’s very often. It is so bad for you. Each time I eat there, I have a bite of guilt with each bite of food.

So one time, I had to be somewhere fairly early in the morning, (For those of you that don’t know, arriving anywhere before 9 a.m. is early to me!) and that always seems like a good time to get something from McDonald’s. So I did. And then I continued to my original destination. As I was sitting in a double turning lane, eating my hash brown, I felt the lady in the car next to me staring at me. Seriously, she was STARING at me. I looked to my left to see if anything interesting was happening on the other side of me. NOPE. I was trying to ignore her and continue eating my sinfully delicious breakfast. Finally she turned away, so I peaked over at her. Why did she have to stop staring at me? To get a smoke, OF COURSE! I just started laughing!

At first, I had thought she was staring at me, abhorred that anyone would eat that junk for breakfast. Now, I think she was staring lustfully at my breakfast, because clearly she has some bad habits of her own. 🙂

Later today I’ll try to post some pictures of a few things I have made recently!

Guilt

The guilt of a mother….

My little boy had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital because he was having so much trouble breathing. I knew he was sick. I should have taken him to the doctor earlier.

I barely saw my other 2 children while he was in the hospital. My 5 year old son sent over a truck for him. He was very worried. I was not there to comfort him.

I had to leave this little guy while he was sleeping so that I could get some sleep myself. He never should have been alone in the hospital.

I drove through McDonald’s and got one of these on my way to the hospital. Don’t even tell me how bad they are for you. I feel guilty enough as it is.

****************************

Taylor is home and is continuing to recover. He’ll be on several medications for the next few days and a couple of them all the way until school is out in May. Thank you for your prayers and warm wishes. It is appreciated. I feel guilty that I cannot take time to thank each of you individually.

Change the Presser Foot

Sometimes I think that I’m not too smart. I struggle along with something when I have the tool available to make the task easier. Sometimes, it’s as easy as changing the presser foot!

And actually, I think that is true in a lot of areas, not just sewing. Do you ever trudge forward with something. Something that isn’t going well, something that isn’t turning out like it was supposed to? I’m not suggesting that you abandon that “thing” (whether it be a sewing project, job, family member…whatever), but maybe examine it and see if you could make a minor change. Little changes CAN make a big difference.

Here is another sewing tip. Use patterns! (If you’re making items to sell, check out the copyright laws to make sure you know what you can and cannot sell.)

I almost never sew with patterns. It’s really is odd, I think. How much easier would my life be if I just used a pattern. Let someone else figure out all the particulars! So, I have ordered several patterns for my fabric store. They are up on eBay and some of them are in my Etsy store. (By the way, links are on the left hand side of the screen.) I’m working on getting them all on my website. Anyway, I will admit that while ordering these, I added some extras for myself. I’m quite excited about many of the patterns….well ok, you got me…I’m excited about all of them!

Haley will be getting an apron from this book. I’m going to make it using Laminated Michael Miller Fabric. (yep…it’s on my website.) If there is one little girl that needs a wipe-able apron, it is Haley! Of course, I doubt I’ll be able to stop with one! (pst…I also have adult apron patterns!)

Well, how can you resist these? Especially with some really fun fabric!

Hello, Christmas gifts, anyone? How perfect, I must say! Maybe if I start now, I can actually get them made before Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas…one of my reps is coming next week so I can order Christmas fabric. Yep! Things move fast in this fabric world. Let me tell you, there are some WAY cute Christmas fabrics coming out this year.

Hi! I love fabric, I adore my family and I seem to think my life is pretty dang fun! So welcome to my blog. Enjoy your stay and visit often!
