Day Late – Dollar Short

I actually used my sewing machine yesterday. I actually used it! (Things are SUPER BUSY with the house right now. It’s so close to being done – and then we’ll have to pack up and move. Is it possible that the Christmas season will seem relaxing this year? Or will I go from one crazy busy part of my life into another? Time will tell… now back to my post!) Of course, my newest project is not finished and I’m far to lazy to get out the camera for a work in progress, so I cannot unveil it yet…so instead I will share with you this beauty. 🙂

One of my Christmas plans this year is to make these awesome gifts for teachers. It holds a notepad, a pen, cards, notes, etc. Perfect for just about anyone, if you ask me! I made this a long time ago, but have held off sharing it because I wanted to get like a million of them made and take pictures of them all together. At this point, it appears only one teacher will get a gift this Christmas. 😉

This is the mini-patchfolio from the Craft Apple pattern, Sew. Create. Small Books. Remember when I made Haley the Little Artist Drawing Case? That is from this same pattern set! It really is a fun pattern with lots of possibilities! I’ll show you the cute photo albums on another post.

I really like the way this particular minipatch turned out. I don’t know about you, but SO many times, I just use fabric from one designer in my projects. It’s usually from the same line and it’s easy to know that it is made to match. I’ve been trying to come up with fabric combos that cross designer lines! (It’s actually a section in my soon-to-be-better newsletter!) This combo features Anna Maria Horner’s Garden Party – Teal Dance Floor, Sandi Henderson’s Ginger Blossom – Avocado Blossom Buds, and Amy Butler’s Belle – Brown Kashmir. I think it is a really fun combo!!!

So there you go, my Finished Friday’s post…..a day late. Pretty typical of me! (And even cheating once again. But I promise, new things are a-comin!)

As a testimonial — I LOVE my little portfolio and use it almost daily.

You did an awesome job on this. It’s adorable. I’ve been meaning to buy that pattern myself but, typical of me, I haven’t gotten around to it yet. And I give you an A+ in the fabric choices. I can’t mix and match.. just can’t. Don’t know why… I can do it with paint, scrapbook materials, and whatever.. but can’t seem to pull it off with fabrics. Weird.
