Learning. We, as parents, are responsible for our children learning so many things. All my children are busy learning, learning, learning!
Kyle started school today. He is in Kinder at a public school this year. We struggled with the decision of if we should hold him back. (He was in kinder last year at a private church school.) I feel very good with our decision. But this post isn’t about that!!!! He was very apprehensive about starting school at a big school, and in a big class. We had gone to the open house, we had met the teacher – and it didn’t help. :-( Today, after I offered to make him a special breakfast, he said to me. “Mom, I know you want me to be happy about my new school, but I’m just not.” Does your heart just break? Fast forward to the end of the day, picking him up….he got into the car and I asked how his day went. “Well, I’m not so sad any more. I think I’m kinda getting used to it.” WHEW!
My other children are learning too. Taylor is officially potty training. I’m not sure if I am prepared for this – but he is asking – so what can I do. :-) I had planned to not even press the issue. Sure, getting out of diapers will be wonderful, but potty training means LOTS of time just sitting in the bathroom. He likes to sing songs and count. It’s great that he’s learning so much at once, I guess. You may ask about success….none so far. That day will come. Oh – and I thought I should mention – that is chocolate SOY pudding on his face. He can’t have dairy – and so we had to eliminate yogurt from his diet. I tried soy yogurt – he hates it. BUT I finally found a brand of soy pudding that he likes. YAY!!! And of course, a toy helicopter. That is a requirement for a 2 yr old sitting on the pot – right?!?!?!?
Haley is learning too. Oh boy, is she ever learning. It seems like that little girl even learns during her sleep. What she has learned, that I will share with you for now, is to write many letters! Kyle had no interest in this at her age. She can’t get enough of it. She loves to write me notes and draw me pictures. This is her writing her name- with no prompting and no guidance! Isn’t that good for a 4 year old? I mean – she just turned 4 in July!!! She didn’t get it quite right – but I am still so proud! And she got Mom right! :-) That middle thing is loves. It says Haley loves mom. So sweet.
Learning. Yep – lots of learning going on at our house!
