Our Getaway

We had decided some time ago that we needed to take a weekend off. A weekend without contractors calling, a weekend without emails, a weekend just to relax. Our summer schedule is pretty packed as it is, so this past weekend was that weekend. Since it is between Kyle and Haley’s birthdays – it was like a little birthday vacation celebration.

It was a blast! We went to Squaw Peak Resort up in Phoenix. It is a hotel with a little water park inside. This is the first time in my life that I remember going to a hotel just to relax. Usually a hotel is just a stopping point, or a place to sleep while we take advantage of the surrounding tourist attractions. Not this time! I must say, I could get used to this type of vacation…well, mixed in with our regular vacations.

It turns out, you can sleep with a down comforter in Arizona – you just have to keep your room at 65 degrees. They even had robes for us – and there was a mini-bar stocked with more liquor than I think I’ve ever seen in my life! We had to remove some of the booze from the fridge to put in our soy milk. HA! I was afraid they were going to charge us for using the space. 🙂 Don’t worry – they didn’t.

We ate at the hotel – along with some of our own food. This cinnamon butter was delicious. My family thought I was crazy for taking a picture….so enjoy my craziness, won’t you?!?!?!

We figured that we spent over 10 hours at the water area of the hotel. There was the River Ranch, which had a big pool with a waterfall, a couple smaller pools, a water slide, a river to float around in inner-tubes, restaurants, shopping, etc. etc. Quite the place! Here is hubby with the kiddos on our first night – they are under the waterfall. Oh – and the first night they had a DIVE in Movie at one of the pools. 🙂 So fun!

There was a pool in each “hotel” building too – so we spent some time there too. Alright a few more pictures and then I’m out here! Gotta get ready for our next trip – a kid drop off…a week without the kids….what will I do!!!!!

Kids at the \"Tad Pool\" The kids are always being so funnyLunch by the pool near our room

So, there are more pictures – but this will do. If you’ve never taken a vacation like this, I recommend it. Maybe next time I’ll be able to afford the spa services – that would be awesome!!!!
