First….Did you see the Made by Rae final round? My shirt did not make the final cut…but it was in the top 60. Pretty fun! And the shirts that are in the final are awesome! The flickr group is serious inspiration! I was so happy to see Adrianna won. Her shirt is totally awesome! She is an awesome sewist. Visit her blog, you won’t be disappointed!
(Do you feel like I need an “awesome” intervention? Yep, that would be awesome.
I almost went back and added more “awesome” just to drive the point home….but I refrained….cuz I’m awesome.)

Second….. Meg over at Elsie Marley is having a Kids Week Challenge. It’s too late to officially get on the list….but it’s not to late to participate! Read more here and see pictures here. Great way to bust that stash…and your kids will get clothes. Win, win!
Third…. I’ve made this skirt available as a kit. Haley loves it! And bonus – most of the work is done for you since the squares are already cut! There are 3 color options from the super super cute Summer Song fabric collection. I love it. I think it’s awesome.
And that is all.

Wow! Top 60 is great! Unless there are only 70 entries, but I’m sure there were many more then that, so congrats! I voted for you though. I really wanted you to win.
That skirt is darling. I’m so wishing I had a little girl right now so I could make that skirt for her. *sigh* Guess I’ll have to continue using my niece!
I once posted a question on yahoo answers and called myself a sewer. Someone said I was not an underground place filled with pipes for sewage to go, but that I was a seamstress. I don’t think she’s seen the quality of my work!
Thanks for voting!!!! I think there were over 300 entries, so I’m happy with top 60. And really, I would have made the shirt regardless!
I am really glad that i now have a niece I can sew for once Haley stops wanting to wear my creations. Girls are so much fun!!!!
Sewer, seamstress, sewist. What is the right term? I used to say sewer too because I certainly don’t consider myself a seamstress. I mean….seamstresses make wedding gowns and do crazy fancy alterations….I don’t. although I do make a lot of clothes. hmmm….anyway I used to hate ‘sewist’…but then I heard it eloquently used by a fabric designer so I switched to that. That way I can make bags, quilt, crafts, apparel, home decor etc and not feel trapped….or dirty. lol
Melanie, you are too sweet. Thank you for your awesome comments
(yes, I am a huge awesome abuser as well. Did you catch any awesomes in my post about the AAF giveaway? I was REALLY trying not to use it, or at least not in every sentence
I think you are pretty awesome….. =)
Such an awesome little skirt to kit! So cute!
I can’t bring myself to use sewist – just can’t. Don’t know why. Maybe I’ll mature into it one of these days. For now, I try to avoid the use of it altogether – mostly because seamstress implies clothing and I don’t do many clothes. And sewer, well, it just drives some people nuts.
Well, I think that successfully sewing ANY shirt is AWESOME, and actually ranking it in a contest is downright fantastic. Good for you!
I tried sewing a shirt earlier this week, for the fist time in a decade, and got mixed results. But I will keep trying, because I have a little girl who would look really cute in a few hand-made creations!
love the kit! it’s too cute!!
