Patty’s New Patterns

Just popping in to let you know that Patty Young‘s newest patterns are in the store.  As usual, they do not disappoint.  If you haven’t sewn with Patty’s patterns yet, you’re missing out!  Beautiful full color booklets, lots of instruction and tips! (And for new knit sewists, she doesn’t leave you guessing!  They are great!) You can find all of her patterns here.  I simply cannot wait for the knits to arrive!

I’ve gone back and forth, back and forth regarding if I should pre-sell the new knits that Michael Miller is releasing.  I have them all in the shop, ready to go….but they’re not visible yet.  Some of you might remember that I got burned big time with Mezzanine, then again, I didn’t blog about it or publicize it, so you may not remember.  Long story short, I pre-sold and then did not get my order.  You know the saying “Once bitten, twice shy.”  That is how I’m feeling about pre-selling Michael Miller fabrics now!  Just thinking about the possibility of a repeat makes my stomach hurt.  What do you think? Am I being overly paranoid?

Hmmm, not sure what I would do either. That would be a mess. I guess I would say give it a second try. I cannot wait for Patty’s knits!

I kinda have an idea swirling around in my head…..going to have to see if it might work (but that will have to wait til Monday during business hours!)

I think you are wise to resist preselling his again. You know the nightmare that can result. If out decide to do it, could you work with one person there who could be held accountable?

I do have one contact that I work with on all my orders….but she is in the office not in the shipping warehouse, ya know what I mean?

I like the Maya pattern. So cute!

I would be scared to presell too!

How exciting – I can’t wait to see which knits you’re going to be stocking. When are they due to be arriving with you? I’m thinking I’d err on the side of caution (but that’s from a personal point of view…not coming from any good business sense).

I love that she’s written a range of patterns to go with the knits. Please do tweet loudly when they arrive!

They are supposed to arrive this month! Very exciting, indeed. :-) I most certainly will tweet about it when they arrive…..after I mop myself up off the floor!

Yikes, I didn’t know that happened to you! Yuck! Same situation with the same company? I’d play it safe, but then on the other hand, what are the chances of it happening twice? Not much help, am I? On of my driving forces of change in my business philosphy is to avoid headaches where possible. Maybe that can help you here. :)

Oh yes. I didn’t know I didn’t tell you about it. yuck is right! And I’m all for avoiding headaches. :-) How did the craftshow go this weekend?

I would not do preorders if I were in your position. I understand why you would want to from a business perspective, but maybe you could compromise and offer a mailing sign up to let people know either when the order is being shipped to you (and then offer a “pre-order”) or an email notification as soon as the fabrics arrive. Good luck!

Please supplement charge before use when the battery has been
kept for a long time. As you lift out the screen you’ll see it is still attached via a ribbon cable. If a LED is used instead of a bulb, the connections will require a bit more attention.
