My Littlest Man

I have been able to spend a lot more time with Taylor since the two older kids have started school. He cracks me up! I’m glad that I’m getting to see this side of Taylor’s personality. It is fun! Today he found one of Haley’s headbands. He actually succeeded in putting it on! I tried to take it off before we went grocery shopping, but he was insistent that the headband stay put. Okay! It’ll be a great picture to show his girlfriends He got bored mid-errands and ended up taking it off to play with it. It managed to find it’s way into my bag before we were back home!

He also loves to play outside. I get bored and hot way before he is ready to come back inside the air conditioned house. He’ll play in the sand box for hours. He also loves messing with the scooters, bikes and tricycle even though he can’t ride one yet. His favorite, by far, is the water table. He loves to dump, splash and climb into the water!!!! Thank goodness he has his hooded towel! (which are in my Etsy store!)

Priorities

I don’t think it would come as a surprise to anyone that, at times, I have trouble setting my priorities. We all do, don’t we? How easy is it to get caught up in things that over time and eternity won’t really matter? I was gently reminded today that I need to re-examine and definitely need to re-prioritize.

Today during my Bible Study time I was lead to the book of Deuteronomy. My focus was on all of chapter 8, but I have a few verses highlighted from chapter 6 that seemed to pertain as well. (I won’t quote all of chapter 8, just a couple of verses!) It certainly doesn’t take a genius to figure out why God brought me here today….especially if you read the entire chapter! I hope that you can get something from these verses as well. Although if you are not in the same place that I am, it might just be something different!

Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

6:13 “Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.”

8:3 “He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread along but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”

8:5 “Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.”

Everyday certainly won’t be a recap of my devotion! None-the-less, it was on my heart and I wanted to share it with you. (and by that, I mean my mom and sister, since apparently they are the only ones who read my blog!)

Movin’ on up

YEAH! Taylor got to move to the big table with the rest of the family. He’s quite happy…as you can tell! We also had to go buy him more shoes today because he keeps loosing the right shoe. I have searched high and low and cannot find those shoes. I have tried all different styles, from those cute little leather soft soled shoes with elastic around the ankle to slip ons and more. The right shoe always goes missing. With this last pair, he liked to undo the Velcro and then the shoe would fall off. I don’t think they are in some random store or in any parking lots. I’ve tried to keep track of them when we are out of the house. They are probalby in some plant, tucked between cushions, or in the pots and pans drawer. I’ll have to interrogate Kyle when he gets home from school because he has been known to use shoes as spaceships for his guys. Now if Haley hid it, good heavens, we’ll never find it.

That’s Why I Love Him

Yep, Shampoo and Conditioner….

So, yesterday was a pretty typical Saturday for us. The kids get to watch TV on Saturday morning, I try to take advantage of this time to finish some stuff around here and my hubby dutifully does projects around the house. After lunch, we all lay down for naps. (My husband can somehow manage to get all the kids asleep, a skill I lost quite some time ago.) He, however, cannot fall asleep so he tells me he is going to the store to get weed killer.

YEAH! He’s going to the store. Containing about a dozen or so random items, I shove a list into his hands! “Here’s a list of some things we need.” Now, if you have seen the recent auction on eBay you’ll completely understand why I have not run to the store to pick up these items. (If you have not seen it I will put a link at the bottom of this blog.) I’m certain that 3 kids are not nearly as challenging as 6…but it’s still quite the effort to make a “quick trip” to the store.

Naturally, as soon as he leaves I remember a dozen more items of which we are in need…so I start making another list. (yep, I’m a list person…I give 100% of the credit to Mom for this) He comes home with all the items on the list plus a few extras. Some of these extras were things he thought we needed, some of them we actually did need….and to my surprise, he even picked up some shampoo and conditioner for me. (Even I had forgotten that we needed that…I mean, honestly, there are days of the week that I can’t even manage to shower! Maybe that’s what clued him in.)

We have long ago given up on living a luxurious life. (I am just praying that I can make enough money by selling stuff to pay for school this year, and DH is praying that our house will just sell so maybe he won’t have to work a million and a half hours each week to pay most of our bills.) One thing I have not given into, however, is using 78 cent shampoo and conditioner. I just can’t do it. I’m not saying I need super duper salon products, but I enjoy a nice lather with a nice scent and conditioner that actually leaves my hair conditioned….because that is the most that this head of hair gets!

So I take it as a sign of true love that he bought me good shampoo and conditioner without it even being on the list. Who knows, maybe it was on sale for 78 cents!

UPDATE: For those of you that have asked “What does the purse look like?” I have to tell you that I did go back to the store…but I did not buy it. This time it was a different problem! I had just paid bills. Do you think I can convince myself to buy it in the future? Maybe I should take a poll…but instead I’ll just declare ‘Probably not!’ the winner. I’ll just make one when I get some corduroy
